Dr Phil Dowson

Dr Dowson is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine.

He treats people with urgent or life-threatening problems. 

His specialist clinical interest areas are pre-hospital emergency medicine (treating people before they reach hospital, for example at the scene of an addicent) and point-of-care ultrasound (an ultrasound scan done right at the patient’s bedside).

Dr Dowson is the Regional Training Programme Director for Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine and the Research Lead for Adult Emergency Department. He is also a HEMS Doctor for the Great North Air Ambulance Service and a Fellowship in Immediate Medical Care examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
