Accessibility statement for www.stsft.nhs.uk
This website is run by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We have also tried to make sure the website text is as simple as possible to understand. We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- some of our online forms are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard
- you cannot skip to the main content when using a screen reader

What if I have problems with accessibility on this website?
We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us using the details in the "how can I contact you or give feedback?" section.
What happens if you need to make a complaint?
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) makes sure public websites and apps follow the accessibility rules. If you are not happy with our reply to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for help.
What is the accessibility status of the website?
The site is built to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
What about PDFs and other documents?
Some of our PDFs and Word files are important for our services. For example, we use PDFs to explain how to get help, and we use Word documents for forms. We are working to make an HTML page for each one.
The accessibility rules do not make us fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not needed for our services.
All new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
When was this accessibility statement updated?
This statement was prepared on 29 August 2023. It was reviewed and written to make it easier to understand on 16 March 2026.
