Alison King – Director of Performance

Alison has worked in the NHS since 2001. Her first roles were working in primary care in Durham. Here, she helped to plan and develop local services in a commissioning role.

In 2008, she joined the North East Strategic Health Authority. In this role, Alison helped to shape the primary care strategy for the region. She also gave advice on the national policy for primary care when she was in this role.

Alison moved to City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust in 2010. She became Director of Performance across South Tyneside and Sunderland in 2018.

Since then, she has helped improve how the Trust measures performance and uses data. Alison leads the teams who look after data management, data quality and business intelligence. She is also the executive lead for the Trust’s cancer strategy.

She co‑developed the Trust’s Digital and Data Strategy with the Director of IMT. Alison is also the Executive Sponsor for the LGBT+ Staff Network.
