What is Neonatal Unit? 

The Neonatal Unit cares for some of the smallest and most vulnerable babies.

It provides specialist support for newborns who need extra help in their first days of life.

The team looks after babies with many different medical needs, including those born early or with conditions that need close watching or advanced treatment.

Staff give kind, family‑focused care to keep every baby safe, comfortable, and closely monitored.

Parents and carers are welcomed as partners in their baby’s care.

Throughout the stay, the team offers guidance, reassurance, and support.

They work with families to plan any ongoing care or follow‑up once their baby is ready to go home.

Where can I find Neonatal Unit?

The Neonatal Unit is located on D Floor of Sunderland Royal Hospital.

You can reach it through the main entrance on Kayll Road.

Follow the signs from the main corridor to get to the ward.
