Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
What is the CCU?
We look after people who are very unwell with heart problems in our CCU. This might be people who have had a sudden heart illness, such as a heart attack.
In the CCU:
- staff check your heart closely
- machines watch your heartbeat and blood pressure
- nurses and doctors are on hand if you need quick treatment
- you get medicines and care to help your heart recover
The CCU keeps patients safe after a serious heart problem and gives them the care they need to get better.
Where can I find the CCU?
We are on Ward B22 at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
Use Main Entrance 1 on Kayll Road and follow signs to Ward B22.
