South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is inviting patients, staff and the local community to get creative this festive season by designing a Christmas Card.

Bright colours filled the streets of Sunderland on Saturday as a wave of participants joined the “All Eyes on You Walk,” a fundraiser led by STS Charity in support of  eye care in the region. Held on Saturday 11th October, the walk brought together 35 patients, NHS staff, Trust leaders and members of the public for a symbolic journey from Sunderland Eye Infirmary to the future site of the city's new Eye Hospital.

A Sunderland mam has launched a book she wrote and illustrated to help other families through the experience when their baby needs neonatal care.

With just nine months to go until the region’s new Eye Hospital opens its doors in Sunderland, patients can now get the first glimpse of where they will be coming for their specialist eye treatment from next summer. All scaffolding has now been removed from the exterior of the building, revealing in full the striking architecture of the new Eye Hospital in Sunderland city centre. It marks a major milestone in the project’s progress.
