The MS Trust and South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to announce they have collaborated to appoint a new specialist MS nurse, who will support people living with multiple sclerosis in the Sunderland area, where there are more than 1,000 people living with MS.

A quiet room away from an A&E waiting area has been created after a hospital took on board feedback from carers of women with dementia. The changes have led to Chris Cairns, a Nurse Consultant for Older Persons with South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, being presented an award for the work he has put in to create the space.

Loved ones will be invited to gather to reflect and remember at a walk during Baby Loss Awareness Week. The event will be hosted by the Forever Cherished Maternity Bereavement Service. It is led by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust to support those who have faced baby loss. Its Walk of Light will be held as part of the week, which runs from Wednesday, October 9, to Tuesday, October 15.

The NHS is urging everyone at high risk from flu to "Be wise, immunise" by getting their flu vaccine this winter. Every year, around 17 million people in England get a free flu vaccine. Last year, more than one million people in the North East and North Cumbria were vaccinated.
