Dr Shaz Wahid – Executive Medical Director
Shaz trained to be a doctor in the North East. He joined South Tyneside District Hospital as a Consultant in 2003.
He is a Consultant Physician with a special interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology (glands and hormones). He also has an interest in Acute and General Medicine.
Shaz is well respected as a doctor, manager and teacher. In 2006 he became the clinical lead for emergency care at South Tyneside District Hospital. He helped develop the hospital’s Emergency Care Centre which opened in 2012.
He became Medical Director at South Tyneside Foundation Trust in 2015 and then at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust in 2018.
