Our occupational health team is here to look after your wellbeing at work.
This means you can get faster access to things like physiotherapy and health screening.
Our team of nurses, physiotherapists, wellbeing advisors and physicians are here to make sure you are physically and emotionally fit and well to do your job.
All staff at STSFT have access to Thrive.
Thrive is a free emotional and mental health service that offers short-term support. It offers a safe and confidential space to talk.
This might be through one-to-one support, team support or specialist psychological therapies.
We have a care co-ordinator at STSFT for our staff. They are there to help with any carer or childcare questions or issues.
You can go to one of the regular ‘drop in’ clinics, arrange a face-to-face chat or speak to them over the phone or by email.
We have a staff fitness centre on our Sunderland site. This is open every day from 5.30am to 11pm.
The centre has a fully equipped gym with cardio and weight training equipment and a studio where we put on classes. These include Pilates, spinning, HIIT and weights.
There is also a sauna and steam room, showers and changing areas, and a wellbeing and relaxation area.
Membership packages are available. They include full use of the gym and all classes.
We have partnered with Cyclescheme. This means you can sign up to the Government’s Cycle to Work initiative and buy a bike through salary sacrifice. This means the cost of your bike comes off your salary before you pay tax.
You can lease a brand-new car of your choice with Knowles.
Because sustainability is important to us the cars you can choose from must have CO2 emissions of no more than 155k/mg. This is in line with the Trust’s Green Travel Plan.
We have restaurants on site at both our main hospitals. There is also a staff-only restaurant at Sunderland Eye Infirmary. You can buy hot and cold meals, snacks, salads, sweet treats and drinks.
Our new Eye Hospital in Sunderland will also have a restaurant overlooking the new park and the River Wear.
Our sites also have coffee shops.
We have a staff lottery. All staff can take part.
Entries cost £1. Half of the entry money goes into the prize fund. The rest goes to the Staff Lottery Trust Fund for the Trust Charity to use it to improve staff welfare.
Staff can enter as many times as they want. There are three prizes every month.
