Alan Clarke – Senior Independent Director
Alan first joined the Board of South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust in 2012 and then again in 2015. He became a non-executive director at South Tyneside and Sunderland in 2018.
Alan has had a long career in local government. He worked for South Tyneside and Newcastle City Councils, was Assistant Chief Executive at Sunderland City Council in 1995 and became Chief Executive of Northumberland County Council in 2000.
Alan was Chief Executive of One Northeast from 2003 to 2012 and was awarded a CBE in 2011 for services to regeneration in the North East.
