Gateshead Equipment Services (GES) gives disability equipment to people. It also carries out assessments for those who live in Gateshead or are registered with a Gateshead GP.
Who can refer you:
Referrals can come from:
- Adult Social Care Direct
- Staff from Gateshead Council
- Healthcare professionals with a GES PIN
- NHS services outside Gateshead (if a Gateshead resident chooses them for treatment)
What the service does:
- Helps stop unnecessary hospital stays
- Supports safe discharge from hospital to home or care
- Encourages independence and self-care
- Helps carers give safe care
- Keeps people safe from harm
- Makes sure people have a good experience of care
Equipment support:
GES looks after and repairs most equipment. Powered mobile hoists are repaired by Prism Medical. You can call them on 01924 840 100.
GES recycles and reuses about £2.6 million worth of equipment each year. If you no longer need your equipment, we can collect it for free.
