Gateshead Equipment Services (GES) gives disability equipment to people. It also carries out assessments for those who live in Gateshead or are registered with a Gateshead GP.

Who can refer you:

Referrals can come from:

  • Adult Social Care Direct
  • Staff from Gateshead Council
  • Healthcare professionals with a GES PIN
  • NHS services outside Gateshead (if a Gateshead resident chooses them for treatment)

What the service does:

  • Helps stop unnecessary hospital stays
  • Supports safe discharge from hospital to home or care
  • Encourages independence and self-care
  • Helps carers give safe care
  • Keeps people safe from harm
  • Makes sure people have a good experience of care

Equipment support:

GES looks after and repairs most equipment. Powered mobile hoists are repaired by Prism Medical. You can call them on 01924 840 100.

GES recycles and reuses about £2.6 million worth of equipment each year. If you no longer need your equipment, we can collect it for free.
